Inner Scapes
The following images are a selection taken from an exhibition of 38 paintings held at Print Club London between the 17th June and the 24th June 2022.
During the first Covid-19 lockdown, just five months after the birth of my son, I returned to the studio so very hungry for the chance to escape into the dance. These works are the result. The explosions of colour and movement in the paper-based images are safely contained within bordered space, unconsciously expressing the intensity of the wider experience that I was trying to integrate.
The lightness I found within this creative experience had been all the more present for the potent heaviness that surrounded it. What I feel, in the end, is that Inner Scapes is a celebration of the alchemic nature of Art: the transmutation of loss, separation and isolation birthed into sublime joy and bliss.
